Post-jam update 1


First update after GDTV 2024 Game Jam.

Managed to add the framework for upgrades. Two upgrades are readily available in the game as you level up. More are planned (and one already coded) but lacking a drop mechanic. The plan is to drop these from special enemies with increased difficulty.

Speaking of difficulty, the game is now completely unbalanced. The upgrades make the 100 kill requirement too easy, so rebalancing is in the works.

The UI looks a little better now. I'm not really satisfied yet, so the look and feel will probably evolve as the game grows and the world lore is expanded. Yes, world lore is something I am working on, but not yet ready to share (it's just a jumble of ideas at this point).

Currently known bugs:

  • The gameplay music doesn't loop. I've told it to loop, but it just doesn't. I plan to implement a proper music/playlist system, so no time was spent on fixing music this week.
  • The thrown axe goes through the terrain. My son says this is a bug, I say this is a feature. Might get fixed, might not.
